Why I Love Driving in Traffic

You can listen to your favorite tunes and forget that you haven’t moved in the last 15 minutes.

You can make friends with that hunky traffic cop who gave you a ticket for talking on your cell phone.

Once you’re on bumper to bumper traffic, you can fiddle with your radio settings then almost get into an accident because you weren’t watching the road. But what’s the point you’re not going anywhere anyway!

Half an hour later and having moved a heaping quarter-mile you can appreciate the sites of the concrete jungle and take wonder at the beauty of the McDonald’s golden arches and how many billions they’ve served.

You can give your right leg a workout with that stop and go movement. Who cares if your right calves are bigger than your left!

You can truly feel that you are part of the massive collective known as “Rush Hour Drivers” whose vehicles are at a steady stroll of 10 mph.

Now, what do you love?

I don’t like traffic. It gets on my nerves. Folk weave in and out, even if it’s only one car ahead from where they were. You also tend to notice things about folk in traffic, like nose-picking and heated arguments that should be reserved for home. Well, I don’t too much mind a good argument for a little entertainment, sadly on my part, but that nose-picking…

    • Lafemmeroar says:

Yup nose picking is like looking at road kill for me … when I see it I cringe, but I can’t help but look, then I wish I were blind afterwards.

I think you should ask the cop on a date.

    • Lafemmeroar says:

      LOL Rebecca … :)

  3. Ain’t purty when you are sucking up diesel exhaust from the bus in front of you. In Miami everyone thinks beeping the horn constantly makes all the logjams disappear.

    • Lafemmeroar says:

      That’s definitely wishful thinking! :)

  4. This is why I have tweezers in my car. I can never get as close to the bathroom mirror as I can that visor mirror.

    • Lafemmeroar says:

LMAO Isaw :) Tweezers in the car … priceless!

  5. I have carried on conversations with cars beside me when stuck in traffic. There’s nothing you can do but wait, might as well make the most of it. Only thing is, I must stop drinking liquids while in traffic, reason self-explanatory. :)

    • Lafemmeroar says:

Oh I know. I once had to wait 10 minutes before I could reach the nearest exit! OMG thank you to the powers of my kegel muscles!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, u sure r the friendly type getting all chummy with your fellow rush hour drivers :) Oh well … might as well make the best of a lousy situation right?

      • Kegelling has saved me from many accidents. LOL

I’m that way in long line ups at the grocery store, movie theater, that is if I’m not mesmerized by the book I’m reading on my e-reader.

I’ve learned to try to not sweat the small stuff and especially stuff I can’t control, like traffic. :)

        • Lafemmeroar says:

Absolutely Selena! That’s called surviving the malfunctions of the universe and living another day to laugh about it :)

  6. I’m going to put the Crazy Chick badge on my blog, soon as I can figure out how to do it.

    • Yeah, me! Thanks for the easy instructions. I was able to put the badge on my blog no problem.

      • Lafemmeroar says:

Great Selena. I will add a little heart next to your name :)

  7. Patti Kuche says:

I take my hat off to you for your powers of rationalisation!

    • Lafemmeroar says:

Crazy Chick logic all the way Patti! :)

  8. cestlavie22 says:

Well traffic is not top on my list of things I love. But lets seem something I love…blogging is a given…how about finding new crafting ideas?

    • Lafemmeroar says:

Oh I’m with you on the new crafting ideas!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful comment considering the holidays are coming up :)

  9. RC says:

I use my time in traffic to catch up on some long overdue … sleep ;)

    • Lafemmeroar says:

LOL! Might as well get some shut eye while the highway is at a standstill. :)

  10. The Hook says:

    Very nice lemonade, young lady!

  11. It never fails I get stuck in traffic with my gas gauge on E and end up praying “God please don’t let me run out of fuel please God just get me to the exit”. While I pray I usually do a Soduko puzzle, text message my kid and my dogs are staring at me in expectation because the truck has stopped and they think that means they get to get out for a pee. Try to explain rush hour to a dog.

    • Lafemmeroar says:

LMAO Lady!!!! You are just too awesomely crazy. I love sudoku, but never had the nerve to do it in traffic … :)

  12. Reading that, I can’t wait for my next traffic jam !

  13. ~~that’s a positive way to look at rush traffic, L!

it’s certainly better than giving somebody the bird xx

    • Lafemmeroar says:

Oh I’ve given many a “birdie” in my time, but you are right … it’s better to look at the positive side of something that I absolutely loathe :)

  14. I like listening to music or an audio book. But the cops who stop me are never hunky!

    • Lafemmeroar says:

What’s the use of a hunk if one ends up “paying for it” (the ticket I mean) :) Thanks for popping by Nancy! :)

  15. I love living in the country so I don’t have to deal with that crap :)

  16. Tony McGurk says:

Since we moved from Australia’s mainland back to Tasmania I certainly don’t miss all that Big City traffic.

    • Lafemmeroar says:

I wish the big city had more lanes on their freeways … :)

  17. Thanks for letting me camp out in your blog for a little while today. I had a great time and tried to leave my campsite as good as when I arrived. I’ll be back!

    • Lafemmeroar says:

You are welcome to camp out here anytime Russel :)

Talk to me :)
