I was with my friend the other night and I showed her my blog. She cruised the site and said your blog seems biased against men. So I said it is? And she said yeah, and she read out loud some of my blog titles:

Sticking a Poker on the Groper
The MILF and the M.I.L.K. (you’d have to read it to understand)
The Crying Adulterer
Quotes from a M.I.L.K.
and so on …
You haven’t read the full posts I said. I don’t have to she said and used the example of “The Crying Adulterer.” What about it I said. Well, not all men cheat she said. So I said what makes you so sure I was talking about a man (I was of course). Because most people think that they do she said.
So I thought about her logic. While she knew that not all men cheat she assumed a universal truth that everyone else thought that men did cheat. Was I like the everybody else she had in “her mind”? You need to be more impartial with the sexes she said. So I told her that I did write a post about femme fatales. She clicked on the article and actually read it. Okay, she said, but that’s one article so you see you need to balance it out.
Then I thought this is my blog, I can spew out anything I want because in my life, where everything is out of my control, the articles I tattoo on the blogosphere is what ever I want it to be. But I also know that this is a diverse world and I am a diverse thinker (not crazy … I’m just a ruminator of all things). She’s right. I do need to be more impartial (I’ll try) and diverse (definitely). Moreover, my thoughts aren’t restricted to men and women. I think about a lot of things such as:
Why do paper cuts exist?
Why do I love Haagen Dazs so much?
What would I do if I could re-write my favorite movie quotes?
What’s in my bucket list?
Aren’t I too young to have a bucket list?
Would racism stop if aliens invaded us?
Why do I look so spastic when I play Guitar Hero?
Why is the line at Starbucks always so long and the barristas always so slow?
Why does a venti caramel macchiato cost so much?
Why does the grocer always ask for a price check when I buy feminine products?
Do people really have a sick sixth sense?
Why do we only use 10% of our brain?
What would the world be like if we used 100% of our brain?
How just is the justice system?
Why does Lindsey Lohan keep getting into trouble?
Why do rich celebrities shoplift?
Is there free will?
Is Elvis still alive?
Are there fairies?
Why can’t we all just get along?
Dear readers (those who’ve subscribed, commented, liked and those lurking in the blogosphere) I am an equal opportunity critic, observer and ruminator of the sexes and everything else. There will be days when I rant, days when I go “hmmm,” and days when I have such insights (crossing my finger) that I will surprise even myself. I’ve only been blogging for a few weeks. This blog is a work in progress as am I … give me time … give me time.

Your posts on men seem to be about experiences you’ve had. And you said it yourself, you’ve only been blogging a couple weeks. Who is to say you won’t have 10 posts in a row that comment on the not so great things that women can do? I wouldn’t worry about it. You’re right, it’s your blog. You write about what you want to write about!
And furthermore…why do we all make such a big deal about buying feminine hygiene products (myself included)? It’s a natural process all women go through. Guys, just suck it up and stop acting like it’s the grossest thing on the planet. It happens, get over it.
Thanks Holly. I do need to deal with my issues about buying those things. Eons ago, I had to ask a boyfriend to buy them for me. He did with no complaints. He was cool. He’s buying them for someone else now.

Yes it is your blog to put whatever you fancy into it, everyones blog is different that is what makes them so unique. Who knows what you will be blogging about in a couple of months time or even a year down the track. I feel the most important thing about a blog is that you enjoy blogging, and have some fun in the blogosphere.

I think you are a great writer and I’m glad I found your blog. Your style is very refreshing and open. When it comes to feedback, I always think it’s good to listen and consider, but at the end of the day take of it what you will and leave the rest behind.
Thank you. I have to tell you that my writing style for this blog is more the way I talk. I’m currently working on a book where the language is very different. But, even though I’ve only been doing this for a couple of weeks … I really love it because it let’s me “talk” to so many people. And, if you knew me in real life … you’ll see that I’m quite the chatterbox 🙂 I am ruminating those ideas I mentioned … we’ll see what happens. You’ve made my day …

You write about what you are thinking about. There is nothing wrong with that, there are days when I can be anti-men also, and I’ve been married to the same one for over 20 years… Advice from friends can be great, take what you want, leave the rest… 🙂

If you count life experience then my blog will likely be seen as biased as well… just because I am a woman or I am woman LOL However, if you count actual blog entries, the percentage of blog entries that have anything to do with men at all is very low. And, at the end of the day, everything is an opinion, blog or verbal… that’s all…Write On, Sista! I am impressed you’ve only been here a couple of weeks – it is addictive (both the writing and the reading… ah well, better than ice cream addiction LOL)

Hi… Well, what you need to think of is – are you writing to please primarily – your readers, or yourself?
If you look at my blog, it’s the latter. Take a look at my posts, most of them won’t make sense to you – they need a context that only I will have.
Enough pontification, I suppose.

I think all blogs are pretty much a stream of consciousness experience – I know that mine certainly is. I wouldn’t worry if there is a recurrent topic – if you write about stuff that interests you that will come through, and make it much more entertaining than a nod to ‘equality’ in points of view and topics.

I’ve just “un-lurked” you 🙂 And yes my writer’s block is what spurned me to blog. I’ll finish the book … I need to so I can brag that I’ve written a book that’s gathering digital dust in my comp because it’s been reject a “gaggillion” times. Thanks for stopping by.

wat is this self-publishing thing I keep hearing about, is it just an ego trip, a good b’day gift?
Haven’t shopped around for publishers yet. Not that far ahead.There are lots of vanity presses out there where you can self-publish and sell it on amazon and etc. I used to frown on the idea of self-publishing, but I think depending on your genre you can actually make good/better money out of it if you already have some kind of following. I don’t know if I want to go that route or if it would work for me. Oh I love un-lurking readers. I hope to un-lurk a handful every day … although that might be wishful thinking 🙂

but at least there is an option for people who want to get something other than teenage vampires, teenage wizards and Dragons published
I have lots of book in me. Now, if only I could get them out of me … but life isn’t long enough … oh and yes on the teenage vamps and wizzes and dragons … too many of them
Same here… Though not “lots” of books, I do have a few inside me. Then there are some stories which I have narrated to my wife. Ah yes, there’s also a troupe of anthropomorphic forest animals that I have created – my daughter has been demanding a new bedtime story each night for the past 8 months or so (but with the same character set).
I don’t think there’s anyone in this world who does not have imagination fertile enough to conjure a great story.
The difference, I think is in the following:
1. Being able to translate what’s in your head to something that’s great on paper
2. The patience and persistence that’s need for #1 to happen.
Personally, I think I have #1 & #2. What I’m struggling with is #3 – being able to spare time (in light of commitments & responsibilities).
The thought can seem overwhelming. I get bogged down by the process of re-writing, but I think it’s the resistance in me. Writer do tend to procrastinate the business of writing. I don’t have kids so I should get the book done; yet, I haven’t … it’s the resistance 😦
